The Green School Committee

St.Fiachras Snr. School is applying for the green flag.
We hope to be awarded the flag next term!
Our goal is to cut down on the amount of waste going to landfill and to ensure that all waste paper is recycled.We are also trying to cut down on the amount of paper being wasted.
Remember that we should :
Reduce,
Reuse,
and recycle
Every class in the school has a representative on the Green School Committee.

BECAUSE:

Since our school started trying to become greener we have made lots of changes for the better in our school;

  • We recycle lots of waste paper -but we need to improve on this ensure that no waste paper goes to landfill!
  • We have introduced a healthy lunch policy and A fruit break 
  • We collect all fruit waste for composting

We will be having a Green Day on June 16th . This will involve a general school clean up and collection of waste for recycling[batteries, phones, etc] We will showcase project work and art work related to environmental issues throughout the day in the school hall.
